L'Organo all'opera
Tra ‘700 ed ‘800 la musica operistica, che in Italia vedrà un enorme sviluppo grazie a musicisti che ne hanno scritto la storia, si sposta progressivamente dai saloni privati ed i piccoli teatri ai grandi teatri pubblici, tra cui il San Carlo di Napoli divenendo un genere musicale sempre più popolare.
La totale mancanza di mezzi di diffusione di massa, a differenza del nostro tempo, ha spinto i compositori italiani a fare delle trasposizioni dei temi d’opera più famosi, a volte solo imitando lo stile a volte riproponendo in maniera precisa i temi musicali più noti.
In modo particolare in Italia lo stile operistico nell’800 diventerà dominante non solo nella musica da teatro ma anche nella musica strumentale italiana e la sua diffusione avverrà attraverso l’organo presente in tutte le chiese. (successivamente anche le bande diffonderanno questo genere di repertorio)
Il connubio tra organo ed opera diventerà così forte che, anche nei momenti musicali dell’” Ordinarium Missae” i brani liturgici di musica sacra saranno ancora una volta parafrasi operistiche (come , ad esempio, nel brano Offertorio di Giovanni Morandi.)
Giovanni Paisiello fu un antesignano anche in questa evoluzione del linguaggio musicale strumentale; infatti fu tra i primi a trascrivere per organo alcune sinfonie di apertura dei suoi lavori più celebri.
